Cathedral Valley Loop is an off-road tour of northern portions of Capitol Reef National Park. This scenic driving tour showcases panoramic viewpoints, dramatic diversity in landscapes, historical remnants, geologic oddities, and more.

This 57 mile (92 km) expedition quickly encounters a river ford crossing and leads on through the bentonite hills to Lower South Desert Overlook. Completing the loop will occupy four to six hours of the day while including stops at additional points of interests including Cathedral Valley Overlook, Monoliths, Gypsum Sinkhole, Glass Mountain, and Temples of the Sun and Moon.  This is probably one of the most remote areas with such scenic views so as a result this is solitude at its finest.

The National Park Service has warned: “Foot and vehicle travel in the Cathedral Valley Loop area is light, so be prepared for the unexpected. If you have problems, help may not arrive for hours or even days, depending on the time of year. Carry plenty of water, food, gas, adequate clothing, a shovel, and emergency supplies.”
